Big Island Sandalwood ~ A native Hawaiian variety of sandalwood (santalum paniculatum). Originally abundant in the islands, its oils were used by the Hawaiian people for medicinal treatments and fragrance, and its wood was used for building. In an effort to restore this sacred tree, organizations on the the Big island of Hawaii are regrowing dryland sandalwood forests. Trees are only harvested once they are at the end of their life and funding raised through their sales are redistributed back to the reforestation efforts. It’s delicate fragrance captures Hawaii’s salty air and sweet flora breezes.

*All cones include makko, a tree bark used as a binding agent.
