Join us for Hanami Matsuri—an ode to the fleeting beauty of sakura season.

Hanami (花見) is the cherished Japanese tradition of gathering beneath cherry blossoms, savoring their brief but breathtaking bloom with good company and good food. Portland is home to an important hanami spots in the region: the Japanese American Historical Plaza, a place of remembrance and resilience. This plaza honors the Japanese American community and serves as a reminder of the injustices of WWII incarcerations—so that history is not forgotten, and its lessons are carried forward.

At Hanami Matsuri, we invite you to slow down and hang out—chatting, laughing, munching, and let time joyfully pass by. BYOB (bring your own bento), roll out a tarp, slip off your shoes, and gather with us under the blossoms in this ephemeral spring season.

Bring your friends, your family, your obachan (grandma) and ojichan (grandpa)—and if you’re feeling festive, wear your pinkest attire! 💕

More details to come ~!

Be sure to RSVP to keep in the loop.
