Parlor Night: Incense Making

We live in a time of visual saturation, where our sense of smell is often overlooked in favor of endless scrolls and screens. Yet, scent offers us a powerful gateway to presence, memory, and joy.

In this immersive 30-minute session, artist Mia Reiko Braverman invites you to slow down and tune in through the sensory art of incense. You’ll craft 4–6 all-natural incense cones and explore fragrance as a tool for grounding, creativity, and ritual.

Each session has room for 8 reserved spots so space is limited!

About the Instructor:

Mia Reiko Braverman is an artist and incense maker based in Portland, Oregon. A first-generation Japanese American raised in Kauai, Hawaii, Mia draws deep inspiration from her cultural roots, blending tradition with artistic exploration.

She is the creator of Fumi, a project named after her grandmother, that is dedicated to honoring ancestral connection, the craft of being home, and the sensory power of the arts. Through Fumi, Mia offers handmade incense, curated found objects, and creations by fellow artists. Fumi also serves as a gathering place, hosting workshops like incense-making classes that invite others to connect through craft and ritual.
