Incense and Tea
Rituals around incense and tea can bring a similar kind of present stillness. We hope this class will mellow you out and give your senses a tasty treat. In this class you will learn how to make Japanese style incense cones from all natural materials and enjoy gongfu tea by Amy Zhen.
The creation and rituals surrounding incense exist across cultures, connecting us and our histories with a fragrant thread. In this intimate class you will learn history and traditions in making Japanese incense with artist, Mia Reiko Braverman. You will make 8-10 incense cones from all natural materials as well as experience unique and rare fragrant woods and herbs from the Monkoh tradition of “listening to incense.”
Drinks and snacks will be provided. The Apa Kabar space is floor seating only (shoes off) but please let us know if you need any accommodations.
Please note: This is not a good class for those sensitive to smoke or fragrances.
